Only the group winners in qualifying will go straight to the World Cup in Brazil. National player Senß is confident ahead of the opener in Dresden.

For national soccer player Elisa Senß, the DFB team is not far away from the top of the world ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Slovenia. "There's not much left to catch up with other top nations. I think we're on a very, very good path," said the 28-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder in a media roundtable at the DFB Campus in Frankfurt.

The DFB team, currently third in the FIFA world rankings behind world champions Spain and the USA, will play Slovenia in Dresden on March 3 (17:45/ARD) and Norway in Stavanger on March 7 (18:00/ZDF). The association has sold almost 17,000 tickets for the home game in Saxony so far.

Only the group winners will fly directly to Brazil

The third qualifying opponent will be Austria on April 14 and 18. The German team will only qualify directly for next year's World Cup in Brazil if they top their group. Every player is pursuing this goal, said Senß.

There was praise for national coach Christian Wück. He attaches great importance to the players' individual development, explained Senß. The 52-year-old former professional is "very ambitious" and demands many details, such as "good passing quality".
