The Niners Chemnitz have suffered their first home defeat in the Basketball Eurocup. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore lost to the British champions London Lions by the narrow margin of 67:68 (34:33). Kevin Yebo was the Saxons' best scorer with 17 points.
Chemnitz got off to a sluggish start to the game and conceded seven turnovers in the first quarter alone, which left it trailing by 16:22. The Niners then improved in defense and went on an 8:0 run to take a narrow half-time lead.
After the break, the Londoners initially brought far more energy onto the court and pulled 50:38 ahead in the 25th minute. The home side did not find its usual pace, but fought back with a lot of passion and went 65:62 ahead with one minute remaining after a 12:2 run. However, it was still not enough in the end. The visitors secured victory with two converted free throws with 4.6 seconds remaining.
