Two vehicles were probably totaled," said press spokesman Lars Töffling, "we are still in the process of contacting the victims to see if they made it home safely." "Bild" first reported on the incident. Almost two weeks ago, Erzgebirge Aue supporters were attacked after the game at Energie Cottbus.
In a video, several people dressed in black can be seen attacking a car stopped at a red light, ripping open the doors and attempting to demolish the vehicle. Fan buses were also damaged, but were able to return home with their windows smashed. Patrick Terjung, president of BSG Wismut Aue, which lends the buses to the third division club, estimates the damage to be in the high four-figure range.
The host club Alemannia condemned the attacks in the morning after the match. "As Alemannia Aachen, we say clearly and unequivocally: These perpetrators are not Alemannia. Anyone who attacks guests is attacking our club and our values. They are acting against everything we stand for - respect, hospitality and fairness," the statement reads. Both clubs are in contact, the police have also launched an investigation and will publish a status report later today.
