Real Transfer Imminent: Diomande Leaves Training Camp

Yan Diomande's transfer from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid is drawing ever closer. The 19-year-old winger from the Ivory Coast has traveled to Madrid for his physical, as confirmed by a club spokesperson. Earlier this morning, Diomande was still signing autographs before training.

The transfer fee is reported to be at least 125 million euros. Diomande only joined the Saxon club last summer from the Spanish second-division side CD Leganés for a hefty transfer fee of 20 million euros.

If the medical exam goes well, Real Madrid is expected to sign Diomande. A quick return to Germany would then be possible on August 16, when the Royals face Bundesliga newcomer Schalke 04 in a friendly match (5:00 p.m.).

Waiting for Asllani

While one striker has left training camp, a new forward, Fisnik Asllani, is expected to arrive in Austria. The Kosovar from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is set to undergo a medical exam in Salzburg and join RB coach Martin Demichelis’s team by Friday at the latest. According to media reports, Leipzig is set to invest 30 million euros for the 23-year-old forward.

Assan Ouedraogo remains the unluckiest player on the RB roster. The 20-year-old midfielder, who had already been sidelined for months due to injury last season, injured his shoulder during training. Leipzig is awaiting further examinations before announcing how long he will be out.

On the morning of the penultimate day of training camp, a prominent guest—former tennis player Dominic Thiem—watched the morning training session. The 32-year-old former pro retired in 2024. With a total of 17 ATP titles and a victory at the 2020 U.S. Open, the former world No. 3 enjoys legendary status in his native Austria.
