"Everything canceled": Glasner still without a new job

Oliver Glasner does not yet have a new club following the end of his tenure as coach of European Cup winners Crystal Palace. "I have canceled everything so far. I had no desire and no energy to talk to another club," said Glasner after the 1:0 in the Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig.

He said he felt committed to his team. "That I am 100 percent focused on the boys, because they deserve 100 percent Oliver Glasner," said the Austrian.

In January, the 51-year-old announced that he would not be renewing his contract with the London club, which expires at the end of the season. During his two-and-a-half-year tenure, Glasner won the English Cup and the Super Cup in addition to the Conference League - the first three titles in the club's history.

Candidate in Leverkusen?

So far, Glasner only has a plan for the short-term future. "I'm going back to London slightly hungover. Then it's time to clear out the apartment and join the family," said the former Frankfurt coach. He had already won the Europa League with Eintracht in 2022. When asked whether he wanted to reconsider his retirement from Palace, he replied succinctly: "No."

He did not want to comment on whether Glasner would be taking time out after the emotional and demanding time in London. "I've learned in soccer: everything I say today is wrong tomorrow."

There is currently speculation that Glasner could take over as coach at Bayer Leverkusen. The Dane Kasper Hjulmand is currently in charge there, but according to reports, it is heading towards a separation. Bayer missed out on the Champions League in sixth place last season and will play in the Europa League in the new season. There, the Werkself could then face Crystal Palace - with Glasner on the sidelines?
