Bundesliga handball club SC Magdeburg will probably have to do without its Icelandic playmaker Gisli Kristjansson again. The 23-year-old injured his left foot in the early stages of Iceland's penultimate game at the 2024 European Championships against Croatia on Monday and was unable to continue.
Kristjansson had been out for a long time last year after suffering a shoulder injury in the semi-finals of the Champions League, which he won with SCM, and only made his comeback in mid-December 2023. The 2023 Sportsman of the Year in Iceland ended up missing out on the semi-finals of the European Championship with his national team.
