Transfer coup for Dynamo: Keller makes permanent move to Dresden

Second-division soccer club Dynamo Dresden has pulled off a major transfer coup by signing Thomas Keller. After a six-month loan, the 26-year-old center back is now making a permanent move from Bundesliga relegation team 1. FC Heidenheim to Dresden, as the Saxon club announced. Both teams have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer. Dynamo generally does not provide details on contract lengths.

“Thomas has shown over the past few months what qualities he brings to the table, both as a player and as a person. He fully identifies with Dynamo Dresden, always puts the team first, and has exactly the mentality we need and want to see here with us,” said Dynamo sporting director Sören Gonther in a club statement.

Keller’s Dynamo record: 14 competitive matches, three goals

Last season, the 1.86-meter-tall defender made 14 competitive appearances for Dynamo, scoring three goals and playing a key role in helping the team avoid relegation as a reliable presence in central defense.

The Munich native came up through the youth systems at SpVgg Unterhaching and FC Ingolstadt 04. It was with the “Schanzer” that Keller made the leap to the professional ranks.

In the summer of 2022, the center back joined 1. FC Heidenheim. To date, Keller has played in a total of twelve Bundesliga matches and 40 second-division matches. He has also appeared in two UEFA Conference League matches, scoring one goal.
