1. FC Magdeburg celebrated an important victory in the 2nd Bundesliga. The team from the Elbe city won 5:4 (5:3) at SpVgg Greuther Fürth in a spectacular match in front of 11,061 spectators. Despite taking a 5:1 lead, they had to tremble until the end.
Reno Münz (13th/own goal), Mateusz Zukowski (15th, 29th, 32nd) and Rayan Ghrieb (23rd) scored for FCM, Brynjar Ingi Bjarnason (8th), Doni Arifi (43rd), Jan Elvedi (45th +5th) and Sayfallah Ltaief (47th) for the hosts. With 23 points, FCM climbed to 13th place for the time being.
"I'm glad that the team performed like that in the end and stood up for the players who were supposedly at fault for the goals conceded," said coach Petrik Sander. "You concede the same goal three times. And then it becomes difficult after 5:1. We then put it behind us after 5:4," explained winger Alexander Nollenberger.
