Bundesliga club Dresdner SC has loaned young talent Teresa Ziegenbalg to Erfurt and signed another outside hitter from the U.S. in her place.

The women's volleyball team at Dresdner SC is continuing to build its roster. As the league runners-up announced, outside hitter Rylan Reid (USA) will be joining the team for the new season. The 22-year-old is moving from Turkish first-division club Bahçelievler Belediyespor to the Elbe and has signed a one-year contract.

“We chose Rylan Reid because she is a very dynamic outside hitter with good jumping ability and a quick arm, which fits very well into our offensive strategy,” explains DSC head coach Alexander Waibl.

Reid is the seventh new addition to the Dresden squad, joining returnee Sarah Straube and national team player Lena Kindermann, as well as Mackenzie Foley, Morgan Geddes, Maia Dvoracek (all USA), and Raeven Chase (Canada).

Talent Ziegenbalg to gain playing experience

Shortly before, the six-time German champion had announced that young player Teresa Ziegenbalg would be loaned out for one year to league rival Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt. The 19-year-old had signed her first three-year professional contract with her home club last summer. However, the outside hitter saw little playing time last season, but then proved to be a decisive wild card in the playoff semifinals against Stuttgart.

“Together with Teresa, we decided to loan her out for a year because we believe she absolutely needs playing time to develop as much as possible,” Waibl explained.
