Schwerin has it in its own hands to clinch its 13th championship in its third clash against DSC. The visitors were clearly better at the start, but the SSC managed a furious comeback.

The volleyball players of SSC Palmberg Schwerin took their first chance against Dresdner SC and are the new German champions. In the third match of the best-of-five final series, SSC defeated the cup winners 3:2 (23:25, 18:25, 25:15, 25:21, 15:11) after trailing 2:0 in the set to secure the third success they needed.

The two previous matches had each been won 3:0 by the women from Mecklenburg. The record-breaking champions celebrated their 13th title and triumphed for the first time since 2018.

Schwerin despite falling behind and suffering setbacks

A 21:18 lead in the first set was not enough for the team of head coach Felix Koslowski to win the game. The visitors proved to be better at receiving and serving in the final phase and turned the result around. Although the SSC got off to a better start in the second period, Dresden dominated again after the first rallies and pulled away to 11:5. The SSC did not recover from this deficit.

Schwerin then fought its way back into the match and reduced the deficit to 1:2 after sets. Koslowski's team also won the fourth set, although it let a 17:11 lead slip in the meantime, forcing a tie-break. The SSC finally earned three match points in the tie-break and made the acclaimed triumph perfect with the first one.
