Coach Ralph Hasenhüttl is struggling with Lukas Nmecha's ongoing injury woes ahead of the game at his former club RB Leipzig. The attacker has renewed problems with his adductors, the coach announced ahead of the DFB Cup quarter-final at the Bundesliga rivals on Wednesday (20:45/Sky).
"It's very difficult for me as a coach," the 57-year-old revealed. Hasenhüttl said that at the moment "you get disappointed because it doesn't work out. And that makes it difficult, of course". According to Hasenhüttl, a player who does not train for a week or two and stay fit is "difficult to integrate. But we just have to keep at it," he added.
Nmecha, who made a brief appearance in the 1-1 draw against Bochum on Saturday, has struggled with a number of injuries in recent years. The 26-year-old was last absent from VfL last year due to a thigh injury. At the beginning of the month, the adductor muscles in his thigh were again affected.
