SC Magdeburg has notched up another win in the German Handball League. The club from the city on the Elbe won 39:30 (19:16) against Bergischer HC in front of 6,600 spectators on Sunday afternoon. Magdeburg's best scorers were Elvar Örn Jonsson and Omar Ingi Magnusson with seven goals each, while goalkeeper Matej Mandic made 14 saves. SCM are in second place in the league, but have played one game less than leaders Flensburg.
Magdeburg got off to a concentrated start defensively, fended off the first BHC attacks and quickly took a four-goal lead (4:0/6th minute). The visitors then improved in attack and reduced the deficit, also because SCM finished some attacks hastily and inaccurately (7:6/14th). Magdeburg's defense lacked grip at times, but the club from the city on the Elbe was nevertheless able to open up a slight gap again (12:8/19). The SCM missed out on a bigger lead up to the break and missed too many shots up front.
