Bundesliga leaders SC Magdeburg have made it to the Final Four of the DHB Cup. The team from the city on the Elbe won 35:29 (18:14) against SG Flensburg-Handewitt - their closest rivals in the league. Magdeburg's top scorer in front of 6,600 spectators was Omar Ingi Magnusson with eleven goals.
Nikola Portner was in the squad for the first time after serving his suspension, Magdeburg had nominated three goalkeepers. SCM got off to a good start and quickly opened up a three-goal lead (6:3/7th). When the home side was five goals ahead, Flensburg took its first timeout (11:6/14th).
Gradually, Flensburg stabilized and Magdeburg had more problems with the visitors' now more offensive cover. Nevertheless, the home side led by four goals at the break.
