Following their hard-fought cup victory in Essen, RB Leipzig is looking to earn its first away points in the Bundesliga. Coach Martin Demichelis’s team faces newly promoted FC Schalke 04 today (3:30 p.m./Sky). The Gelsenkirchen-based team has been waiting for a Bundesliga win since early September. Earlier this week, they were eliminated from the cup by second-division side Dynamo Dresden. However, the Royal Blues have conceded only one goal in three home league games. Christoph Baumgartner, who scored twice in Essen, and Christopher Nkunku will start on the bench for Leipzig. Both players are not yet ready for extended playing time following injuries. RB is the best team in the Bundesliga at home—and the worst on the road. A win against the Royal Blues could also further defuse the coaching controversy surrounding Demichelis that has been simmering for weeks. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
