RB Leipzig loaned defender Angeliño to Italy shortly before the end of the transfer deadline.

RB Leipzig loan defender Angeliño to Italy shortly before the end of the transfer window. The left-back will join AS Roma until the end of the season. This was announced by both clubs on Tuesday. According to reports, the Italian first division club has a purchase option worth five million euros.

Angeliño was previously on loan to Turkish top-flight club Galatasaray Istanbul. There, he would have been obliged to buy after 20 appearances. As the Turkish club wanted to renegotiate the price, they stopped using the 27-year-old after 19 games. This led to the loan being terminated.

Angeliño did not spend the previous season in Leipzig. The Spaniard was loaned out to TSG Hoffenheim, who could have bought the left-footer for €20 million. However, the Kraichgauers were not prepared to pay the sum. Angeliño moved permanently from Manchester City to Leipzig in the summer of 2021 after previously being on loan. The transfer fee was 18 million euros.
