RB Leipzig fans affected by butyric acid attack at away game in Heidenheim; cleaning before the start of the game

RB Leipzig fans traveling with the team probably had to hold their breath several times during the away match against 1. FC Heidenheim on Saturday. Even before kick-off of the Bundesliga match, several Saxony supporters had reported on social media that there was a butyric acid smell in the visitors' block. A Heidenheim club spokesperson confirmed to dpa that there had been an incident long before the stadium gates opened on match day. Unknown persons had apparently poured out liquid and the affected area had subsequently been cleaned as well as possible.
