Ahead of the Conference League final in Leipzig, coach Inigo Perez reminded his players of their childhood. "All of us have dreamed of a game like this since we were little boys," said Perez ahead of Wednesday's game against Crystal Palace (21:00/RTL Nitro). "It's great for Rayo Vallecano to play a game like this. We're trying to take the feelings from our childhood with us."
Captain Oscar Valentin emphasized the importance of the game for the small Madrid club. "It's something magical for us. We've dreamed of this. We're very happy to be there on the last day," said the 31-year-old.
Rayo have never won a title. The club finished eighth last season. Coach Perez, meanwhile, has attracted interest from bigger clubs. He is set to leave Rayo and has been linked with Villarreal and Crystal Palace, among others.
