Football international David Raum felt no desire to sugarcoat RB Leipzig's zero at FC Augsburg. "A modest point away from home. That's not our standard. We have to play clearer, more pressing," said the 26-year-old full-back, as he described the fourth-placed team's 0-0 draw at the start of the 22nd Bundesliga matchday.
"If we want to be a top team, that's not enough," said Raum, referring to the Saxons' Champions League campaign. Their league record of two wins, four draws and one defeat this year does not even begin to meet the high expectations of a top national team.
Raum called for rapid improvements in the Augsburg Arena before the night flight back to Leipzig. "It's crunch time now," he said with a view to the decisive phase of the season.
"We will continue to work hard," announced coach Marco Rose. The 48-year-old was much more lenient than Raum in his assessment of the 90 goalless minutes: "I also saw a lot of decent things."
