Schreiber misjudges: Dresden still in relegation battle

Dynamo Dresden suffer a late setback in the relegation battle at SC Paderborn. Keeper Tim Schreiber does not look good for either of the goals conceded. A double goal scorer decides the game.

Dynamo Dresden missed the next step towards staying in the 2nd Bundesliga. Coach Thomas Stamm's side lost 2-1 (0-1) at promotion contenders SC Paderborn and thus remain just outside the relegation zone.

Vincent Vermeij (32nd minute) had deservedly put the visitors from Saxony ahead. It was the center forward's fourth goal in the last four games and his seventh of the season. Stefan Tigges (66./85.) turned the game in Paderborn's favor. On both occasions, Dynamo keeper Tim Schreiber misjudged the ball as he ran out and fisted it past him.

It was only Dynamo's second defeat of the calendar year. The promoted side from Saxony are three points ahead of Preußen Münster (16th) and four points ahead of Holstein Kiel (17th). However, both teams will not be challenged until Sunday.

Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm was unable to field the same team for the third game in a row as defensive boss Thomas Keller was unavailable due to illness. Goalkeeper Tim Schreiber, who had misjudged when running out, did not look good when conceding the goal. Stefano Marino (79) initially missed a hundred percent chance for the home side in the closing stages, but Tigges did better from a corner.

Immediately before the final whistle, a free-kick sailed into the Paderborn penalty area again, but Müller headed against the far post from close range and an acute angle.
