Jumping rider Christian Ahlmann has canceled his start at the World Cup in Leipzig due to the tragic death of his horse D'Aganix 2000 Z. As the Belgian stud farm Zangersheide announced, the twelve-year-old stallion had to be euthanized despite the best veterinary care after an accident during unloading in Leipzig.
"A terrible and unfortunate accident during unloading in Leipzig led to D'Aganix 2000 Z being able to free himself from the truck for reasons that have not yet been fully clarified. He fell on a slippery surface and suffered such a serious injury to his thigh that there was no prospect of recovery," wrote Ahlmann on his Instagram account.
