Oliver Batista Meier is leaving Dynamo Dresden and moving to Grasshopper Club Zürich on loan. The Swiss club then have an option to buy the midfielder.

Oliver Batista Meier is leaving third-division soccer club Dynamo Dresden. As the Saxons announced on Friday evening, the 22-year-old is moving to Grasshopper Club Zurich on loan until June 30, 2024. The Swiss club then have an option to buy the midfielder. "We have been open about the fact that we are examining with him what the best possible solution could be for both the player and the club. Oli has behaved very professionally since his return and trained well to get back to the performance level of the first half of the season," explained sporting director Ralf Becker.

Batista Meier joined the Elbe club in January 2022 from FC Bayern Munich's second team. After a rather mixed year (20 appearances, nine assists), SGD loaned the 22-year-old to SC Verl. Batista Meier played 32 games for the club over the course of the season. During this time, he scored ten goals and provided eleven assists. SGD ended the loan prematurely in December 2023. Batista Meier can now prove himself at the ninth-placed club in the Swiss first division.
