The Niners Chemnitz basketball team can make their triumph in the European Cup perfect. The Saxons will face Bahcesehir Koleji from Turkey in the final second leg of the Fiba Europe Cup in Istanbul on Wednesday (18:00/Dyn and Fiba on YouTube). The Bundesliga surprise team won the first leg in front of its own fans a week ago by 85:74.
The team from Chemnitz would be the sixth German team to win a European Cup after Alba Berlin (1993), the Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels (2004), BG Göttingen (2010), the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt (2016) and Telekom Baskets Bonn (2023). The Fiba Europe Cup is currently the weakest of the four European basketball competitions.
