The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has celebrated another success in the German league after three defeats in a row. The players of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore won 85:79 (44:39) at tenth-placed Veolia Towers Hamburg on Saturday to consolidate their third place with their 24th win of the season. Wesley van Beck (25), Kevin Yebo (18) and Jeff Garrett (15) played the biggest part in the Saxons' success. Brae Ivey (15), Mark Hughes (14), William Christmas (13) and Lukas Meisner (10) scored the most points for Hamburg.
After an evenly poised opening spell, Chemnitz took the initiative and produced a 13:2 run to turn a 27:29 deficit (13th minute) into a 40:31 lead (16th minute). The European Cup winners seemed to have taken a preliminary decision with the score at 65:48 in the 27th minute. However, the Hanseatic club fought its way back to 65:68 in the 32nd minute. However, the club from Saxony showed its class in the final spell and did not let victory slip from its grasp.
