He has an enormous amount of quality, is very, very talented and is also someone who has absolutely top character," said professional soccer managing director Clemens Fritz after the 2-1 defeat to RB Leipzig.
The 20-year-old, who trained in Bremen's youth academy, scored the equalizer in the fourth minute of stoppage time. The young professional from Oldenburg, who only came on as a substitute in the 76th minute, also missed two further chances to score and breathed new life into Werder's attack, which was particularly weak in the second half.
