National basketball team player Kostja Mushidi will now remain with the Syntainics MBC for longer after all. The Bundesliga club has extended his three-month contract—which was set to expire in November—early, through the end of the 2026–27 season. The 28-year-old had only returned to MBC before the start of the season, having previously played for the team between December 2021 and May 2024. This season, the ten-time German senior national team player has averaged 13.1 points in 21.1 minutes of playing time across eight competitive games. Now he has been rewarded for his performance. Kris Clyburn, however, will be leaving the 2025 German Cup champions. The American did not travel with the team for the away European Cup game in Switzerland. His contract, which was originally set to run through 2028, has been terminated. Clyburn had led the Wolves as the top scorer during the 2022–23 season and had returned to Weißenfels last summer after four years in France, Mongolia, China, and Bahrain. “Kris Clyburn approached us with a request to terminate his contract. Both sides had hoped for more from this renewed collaboration, but unfortunately, things didn’t work out as desired from a sporting perspective,” said MBC Managing Director Alexander Rolle. The funds that became available have now been used to “offer Kostja Mushidi a contract through the end of the season. He accepted it without hesitation.” Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de).
