There are moments in soccer when very few eyes remain dry. Not those of the players, not those of the coaches and support staff, not those of thousands of fans and not even those of the die-hard Ultras. There was just such a moment when Stefan Kutschke was bid farewell. The 37-year-old ended his long career with the 2:1 victory of his SG Dynamo Dresden against Holstein Kiel and the associated safe relegation.
Fan choreography, hugs, a guard of honor from colleagues and the entire staff, a laudatory speech, a Kutschke speech and cheering in the K-Block, wet eyes everywhere you looked - there was nothing missing from the moving moments. After 189 games and 54 goals for Dynamo, Kutschke leaves as a club legend, for many as a hero.
