The RB Leipzig women's soccer team narrowly missed out on a third consecutive win in the Bundesliga. At relegation candidates SGS Essen, the Leipzig team only managed a 2:2 (0:1) due to a late own goal by goalkeeper Elvira Herzog (90.+6). RB are tenth in the table with 21 points. Despite the third draw in a row, Essen remain penultimate with twelve points.
In the stadium on Hafenstrasse, the hosts scored the opening goal in the second minute through Ramona Maier following an assist from Maike Berentzen. Delice Boboy (49') equalized after the break and Marleen Schimmer (71') made it 2-1 for Leipzig after Lisa Baum had come on as a substitute. But in the end it was just not enough for three points.
