Vladimir Jovanovic will take over as head coach of basketball Bundesliga club Syntainics MBC in the new season. The 42-year-old Serbian replaces his compatriot Milenko Bogicevic, who is nine years his senior and wants to take on a new challenge. Jovanovic signed a contract with the 2025 German Cup winners until the end of the 2026/27 season.
The new head coach's last club stop was the five-time Polish champions Zastal BC Zielona Gora in the 2024/25 season. Most recently, he worked full-time for the Serbian Basketball Federation and was an assistant coach on the staff of the senior national team.
Sports Director Silvano Poropat is convinced that he has found the right coach. "I've been following Vladimir's career for several years. He brings a high level of professional quality and international experience," said Poropat, who also needs to find a new assistant coach. Brett Nomm is returning to his native Estonia.
