Handball Bundesliga club HSV Hamburg won its home game against SC DHfK Leipzig after a strong second half. In the end it was 33:32 (13:19) for the North Germans. Frederik Bo Andersen scored eight goals for Hamburg. Luca Witzke, Franz Semper and Viggo Kristjansson scored five goals each for Leipzig.
Leipzig got off to a brilliant start. In particular, the interplay between director Luca Witzke and center Moritz Preuss posed major problems for the home side's defense. Goalkeeper Kristian Saeveras was also immediately on hand to make important saves. As a result, HSVH's Head Coach Torsten Jansen asked his team to call a timeout for the second time at 3:7 (14').
