The German Gymnastics Festival in Leipzig is already a magnet for visitors on the first day. "It's loud and full, the events are super well attended, which exceeds all our expectations," said a spokeswoman. The trade fair, the main venue for the sporting event, was packed.

There were queues for fitness checks and equipment. Many people were dressed in sportswear, practising flickflack and doing gymnastics - as well as on stages and squares in the city centre.
