The Chemnitz basketball team can't seem to overcome its struggles on the road in the Bundesliga. In Vechta, they let the game slip away in the third quarter after leading at halftime.

The Niners Chemnitz basketball team will have to wait a little longer for their first road win of this Bundesliga season. Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s team lost to Rasta Vechta 90–99 (50–45). In front of 3,140 spectators, Stefan Smith led the Saxons in scoring with 23 points; the team now stands at 4–12 after suffering its fifth road loss.

Both teams played at a fast pace with quick shots right from the start. Because their shooting percentage was initially lacking, Chemnitz consistently trailed in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the visitors played much more aggressively on defense and took the lead 35–29 (14th minute) after a 9–0 run.

In the second half, however, Chemnitz lost control of the game. They gave the hosts’ three-point shooters too much space and became increasingly bogged down in individual plays on offense. By the end of the third quarter, Chemnitz had fallen behind 64–78. Although the visitors mounted one last rally afterward, they were unable to seriously threaten the Lower Saxony team’s victory.
