Dresdner SC's women's volleyball team have made progress in the play-off semi-finals. Alexander Waibl's team surprisingly prevailed 3:2 (20:25, 25:18, 15:25, 25:22, 16:14) in a hard-fought match at favorites and preliminary round winners Allianz MTV Stuttgart. As a result, Alexander Waibl's charges can already secure a place in the final with a win in their home arena on Wednesday. Should they fail to do so, a third game next Saturday would decide the outcome again in Stuttgart. Dresden had lost twice in the Bundesliga main round. Suhl and Schwerin will contest the other play-off semi-final. The hosts got off to the better start in front of a crowd of 2012. They dictated proceedings with powerful tasks and variable attacks. The DSC players made life difficult for themselves with too many easy mistakes. In the second round, the team that finished fourth in the previous round minimized its mistakes, but lost focus again in the following set. However, Dresden fought its way into the decisive fifth round. The action there swung back and forth. In the end, the DSC women fended off three match points from their opponents and took their first chance to win after 123 minutes. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de).
