Lightning three-pack lets Leipzig celebrate in Heidenheim

Outsiders initially missed the better chances

The action got off to a lively start in the smallest stadium in the Bundesliga. Antonio Nusa hit the left post after just three minutes. Just 90 seconds later, the ball was in the net for the first time - but national team player Raum was offside when he passed to Christoph Baumgartner.

However, the lead seemed a matter of time in the first few minutes as coach Ole Werner's Leipzig attack quickly lost momentum. A week ago, RB had come close to breaking Bayern down in the first half. Nusa, Yan Diomande and Co. struggled on the eastern Alb.

And it could have been 1-0 to 1. FC Heidenheim at the break. After a quick attack down the left, Mathias Honsak crossed to Arijon Ibrahimovic, but he was unable to get the ball past RB goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi from five meters out (13'). Marvin Pieringer also missed for the hosts in first-half stoppage time. The striker extended Jan Schöppner's shot, but shot over the goal.

RB offensively efficient in the second half

The second half made up for it - from Leipzig's point of view. Immediately after the restart, Ibrahimovic failed to reward Heidenheim's commitment when his shot narrowly missed the left post. RB then put the underdogs under increasing pressure.

The turbulent phase began with Baku. After receiving a pass from Diamonde, he cut into the penalty area from the right-hand side and curled the ball into the top left-hand corner. Shortly afterwards, Nusa dribbled into the penalty area on the left, leaving the Heidenheim defense standing and goalkeeper Diant Ramaj with no chance.

RB had not had enough even after the quick brace, pressing for the next goal and just two minutes later Raum hammered the ball under the crossbar. The fact that another goal by Diamonde was disallowed for offside at the start of the second half no longer mattered.
