The SV Union Halle-Neustadt women's handball team took a big step closer to securing their place in the league with their first away win of the season. Coach Till Wiechers' charges won their clash with direct rivals HSG Bad Wildungen 33:30 (16:15) on Saturday and are now four points clear of the first relegation place after their fourth win of the season. Emma Hertha (7), Helena Mikkelsen and Edita Nukovic (6 each) played the biggest part in the Saalestadt side's victory. Norma Goldmann (8), Anika Hampel (7/4) and Jolina Huhnstock (5) scored the most goals for Bad Wildungen.

The club from Halle overslept a little in the opening spell and trailed 5:7 after 13 minutes. SV Union turned the tide with four goals in a row and were 9:7 ahead three minutes later. An open exchange of blows then developed. The home side got off to the better start in the second half and led 18:17 three minutes after the restart, but the club from the Saarland countered with a 7:3 run to make it 24:21 (40') and defended that lead until the final whistle.
