The district is restricting the right of assembly for the CSD in Bautzen this Sunday. As the responsible assembly authority, the district office has issued a general decree with numerous prohibitions and conditions.
Among other things, the demonstrators are not allowed to wear uniform black clothing that could give the impression of a willingness to use violence or have an intimidating effect. Bomber jackets and combat boots are also taboo, as are open umbrellas designed to cover the face.
The order also states that marching in step is not permitted, nor may drums be beaten in marching time. Torches and pyrotechnics of any kind are also prohibited.
The order is justified by the fact that a clash of politically opposing camps and confrontational gatherings are to be expected around the CSD.
The police are preparing for a large-scale operation in Bautzen. They are expecting 2,000 to 3,000 people to take part in the demonstration for the rights of gays, lesbians and trans people.
In addition to the CSD itself, six other gatherings of supporters have been registered to join the parade. In addition, a counter-demonstration from the political right-wing spectrum with 300 to 700 people will follow the CSD.
Last year, there were far-right protests in Bautzen on the occasion of Christopher Street Day, which were characterized by aggression and violence against CSD participants.
