The German-Czech project "A Year at the Border" is entering its next round. It supports committed people who live in the border region and want to help bring stakeholders from both countries together. Applications for the new year are open until February 28, as announced by the joint future fund of both countries in Prague. The position will run from April 2026 to June 2027 and will be funded for 20 hours per week.
Stammtisch brings Germans and Czechs together
The current project of a Bavarian-Czech regulars' table initiated by Jana Kadlecova from the southern Bohemian Forest (Sumava) shows what this can mean in concrete terms. The regulars' table has become a permanent meeting place in Šumava and the starting point for further joint projects in which people from both countries come together as a matter of course, the Future Fund announced.
The "A Year at the Border" program is now in its fifth year. The German-Czech Future Fund was founded in 1997 to help victims of National Socialist persecution during the Second World War and to contribute to cross-border understanding. The fund is jointly financed by the governments of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Czech Republic.
