Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) has traveled to Prague for his inaugural visit to the new Czech government. A meeting with Prime Minister Andrej Babiš is planned for the afternoon, according to the Saxon State Chancellery. Kretschmer will then also sign the Czech Republic's guest book.
The focus of the exchange will be the expansion of bilateral relations between the Free State of Saxony and the Czech Republic, it said. One focus will be on economic, energy and transport issues as well as joint cross-border projects. European policy challenges such as strengthening the European economy and shaping European funding policy will also be discussed.
"Saxony and the Czech Republic are linked by a long-standing partnership based on trust and close cooperation. I am looking forward to the exchange with Prime Minister Babiš. Together, we want to advance projects and measures that will strengthen our regions economically and further deepen cross-border cooperation," Kretschmer told the German Press Agency.
