In the ranks of the Saxon police, 15 new suspected cases of right-wing extremism came to light last year. The Ministry of the Interior had already reported nine of these in the summer of 2025, with six more added in the second half of the year, according to an overview provided by the ministry. State parliament member Juliane Nagel (Left Party) regularly asks about this in parliament and calls on the Ministry of the Interior to remain transparent.

Left-wingers insist on further transparency

After the most recent inquiry, Nagel suspected that the issue was no longer a priority for the police. "Irritating: all previously published reports have been secretly deleted from the official website. This is the opposite of the transparency promised in the official mission statement of the Saxon police force."

Conduct has consequences for officers

The new incidents include several derogatory, possibly racist statements towards citizens as well as a statement deemed to be xenophobic during a police operation, Nagel explained, referring to the response from the Ministry of the Interior. Two cases involved the use of a punishable slogan and the publication of racist content on social media platforms.

In two cases, the behavior had already had consequences - through dismissal or the initiation of dismissal proceedings, it said. In other cases, disciplinary proceedings had been initiated and in some cases criminal investigations had been launched.

Ministry of the Interior has been providing information on suspected cases since 2020

The Ministry of the Interior first provided information on relevant incidents in 2020 in response to a request from the Left Party. The data published since then brings the total number of known suspected cases to 128. In order to systematically record such cases, the police set up a "Coordination Office for the Prevention of Extremism and Democracy Work".

Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) has often strongly condemned such incidents. At the same time, he always put things into perspective: "However, I would also like to emphasize that of 15,500 police officers, over 99 percent have both feet firmly on the ground of our free democratic basic order," he said more than two years ago.
