A new asylum center is being built in Leipzig's Grünau district. It will offer space for 170 to 200 people in 36 apartments, the city of Leipzig announced. The new building will be constructed by the municipal Leipziger Wohnungs- und Baugesellschaft (LWB) by the beginning of 2028. The costs have been estimated at around 13 million euros. The city of Leipzig will rent the accommodation for the refugees for at least 25 years. After the end of its use, the building could serve as a normal residential building.
