Saxony Is No Longer in the Running for a Nuclear Waste Repository

Saxony is no longer part of the ongoing search for a final repository for highly radioactive nuclear waste. The sites in the Free State of Saxony that had previously been classified as potentially suitable will no longer be evaluated, according to a statement from the Federal Agency for the Search for a Final Repository (BGE) in Peine. However, the Bundestag has the final say in selecting the site.
