Following the pornography incident during a theater project at a secondary school in Lusatia, the AfD wants to change the Saxon school law. Parents are to be given a greater say in projects run by external providers, as Jörg Urban, parliamentary group leader of the AfD in the state parliament, said in Dresden. They would have to be informed at an early stage and give their consent.
In addition, the AfD wants to enshrine in law that project providers are checked for their educational quality. "Otherwise, a teacher should always be involved in such projects," said Urban. The motion to amend the law is already being voted on in the parliamentary group, said MP Tobias Heller, member of the Committee for Schools and Education. With an additional motion, the parliamentary group wants to call on Education Minister Conrad Clemens (CDU) to have schools obtain parental consent for projects with external providers before a legal regulation is passed.
