Young adults from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia currently have to travel to Berlin for an examination with the Bundeswehr. "In the future, there will be 24 examination centers and eight large career centers with assessment available for the military muster," said a spokeswoman for the Bundeswehr when asked by the German Press Agency. Until these planned centers are in place, however, the examinations will continue to take place in Berlin.
The capacities required for a mandatory medical examination would be built up gradually, she said. Where these contact points will be located is currently still part of internal decision-making and planning processes. "Our aim is to establish new, modern structures," said the spokesperson. According to current planning, the necessary capacities should be available "in the required numbers" by mid-2027.
