Left Party politician Sören Pellmann remains the “most frequently questioned” Saxon member of the Bundestag. According to the independent dialogue portal Abgeordnetenwatch, he received 67 questions—the most of any member of the Bundestag from the Free State of Saxony—and answered every one of them. In second place is Jens Lehmann (CDU), who also answered all 39 questions he received. Behind him is Paula Piechotta of the Greens with 29 answers and a 100 percent response rate as well. All three are from Leipzig.
“Those who are elected owe citizens answers”
“Anyone who is elected owes the citizens answers, not silence,” emphasized Louiza Charalambous of the Abgeordnetenwatch platform management. Right now, she said, they are experiencing an enormous flood of questions due to the federal government’s reform package. “This shows that people want to understand why politicians make the decisions they do. Anyone who ignores these questions because they’re work or inconvenient is recklessly squandering trust.”
