Saxony's Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) wants to enter the state parliament in 2024 and is also focusing on the topic of migration. "Humanity and order is the goal in flight and migration, but not a naive multicultural policy," he declared according to a statement on Sunday when he was elected as a direct candidate for the constituency 51 in Saxon Switzerland. There the AfD had fetched the direct mandate in the 2019 state election.
According to the CDU district association, a good 91 percent of members voted for Schuster as a direct candidate. He has been interior minister of the Free State since 2022 and was previously president of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance.
