Environment Minister Wolfram Günther (Greens) warns of a lack of majority for the election of Michael Kretschmer (CDU) as Minister President. There is also no majority for the budget in the state parliament, said Günther. He described the situation as a "huge problem for Saxony". The future coalition of CDU and SPD is heading for chaos with its eyes wide open, he said, and this is no way to govern a state.
Günther believes the responsibility for organizing majorities lies with the Minister President. "Michael Kretschmer has made it clear more than once that he does not want to work with us Greens," said Günther. There was no invitation to talks, not even from the SPD.
The current governing coalition of CDU, SPD and Greens no longer has a majority in the state parliament. Kretschmer had already made it clear during the election campaign that he does not want to govern with the Greens again.
After the failure of a coalition with the BSW, the CDU and SPD are currently negotiating the formation of a minority government. They would be ten votes short of a majority. Black-Red has therefore announced a so-called consultation mechanism, with which the opposition - including the AfD - is to be involved in legislative projects at an early stage.
