Concerts, readings, puppet theater: the German-Czech Culture Days offer a wide variety of events.

From Thursday, the German-Czech Culture Days will attract visitors to many places in Saxony and on the other side of the state border. Until November 16, 67 events are planned in Saxony and 35 in the Czech Republic. They are intended to document what connects the two countries. The motto of this year's festival is "Stream".

Cultural festival as a living European togetherness

"The Czech-German Culture Days are a living European togetherness between the people of Saxony and our Czech neighbors. They bring people together and promote cross-border dialog," said Annekatrin Klepsch, Cultural Mayor of Dresden and President of the Elbe Labe Euroregion.

"Peacemaker" project 80 years after the end of the war

A special cooperation project will take place on the last two days of the festival, first in Dresden and then in Usti nad Labem. Behind the title "Friedensstifter" (Peacemakers) is an event consisting of music, performance, video fragments and texts in which contemporary witnesses and artists from the present day have their say 80 years after the end of the Second World War.

Jazz legends in a duo

On November 14, two legends of the scene will meet at Dresden's Tonne jazz club: flutist and saxophonist Jiri Stivin, who celebrates his 83rd birthday in November, and guitarist Helmut "Joe" Sachse, who is 77 years old.

Bemme and Chlebicky

Culinary delights are also on the agenda. A workshop is dedicated to the "slicing culture" on both sides of the border: from the Saxon "Bemme" with butter, liver sausage or curd cheese to the artfully topped Czech Chlebicky with cold cuts, egg and sour vegetables.

The Czech-German Culture Days are organized by the Euroregion Elbe/Labe, a cultural center in Usti nad Labem, the state capital Dresden, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Dresden and the Brücke/Most Foundation. This year marks the 27th edition of the festival.
