The planned modernization of the state in Saxony should not be carried out on the shoulders of the staff, according to the SPD. Rather, SPD leader Henning Homann sees modernization as a prerequisite for long-term personnel planning. The aim is to reduce the state's tasks and use digitalization to ensure that the administration can manage with fewer staff by 2040. This should not lead to work being condensed. "As the SPD, we stand by our word on this."
Job guarantee for civil servants
"There is a job guarantee for the people who work in the administration. There will continue to be new appointments in the future, but we will find ourselves in a situation in the 2030s in particular where we will no longer have to fill all vacant positions due to retirement as a result of administrative modernization," said Homann. The demographic trend means that we will have to make do with fewer people. The reduction in personnel is to be achieved through retirement.
