The Saxon SPD plans to focus on education policy and reforms at an extraordinary party conference in Dresden on Saturday. Party leader Henning Homann spoke of important issues for the future. His party has set itself the goal of making schools in the state fit for the future. That is why the party has been working hard in recent months to ensure that the number of teachers remains stable until 2032 despite falling pupil numbers.
SPD wants to save schools in rural areas from closure
Another goal is to maintain schools in rural areas. "To this end, we will adopt a motion setting out our very specific proposals for an amendment to the school law, for school reform in this country. We don't want to change everything, but we want to make many things future-proof," emphasized Homann. This means "more extended joint learning and more multi-age teaching, more flexibility in order to be able to maintain educational landscapes and school landscapes locally and make them more modern".
