The planned independent top-class sports agency for the distribution of millions in funding for German sport is to have its headquarters in Leipzig. Minister of State for Sport Christiane Schenderlein (CDU) told Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR). The sports agency is to become the centerpiece of the new sports funding law.
Schenderlein would thus bring the sports agency to her home state of Saxony. She was born in Weißenfels in Saxony-Anhalt, but grew up in Leipzig, where she also completed her A-levels.
