The load test on the central Dresden bridge on Budapester Straße has been successfully completed. “The experts are very satisfied with the measurements,” the state capital announced. According to the report, there was no new damage or broken tension cables on the structure. The reserve time slot scheduled for the evening as a safety buffer is no longer needed.
On Monday night and Tuesday night, four heavy-duty vehicles with increasing weights of up to 326 metric tons drove over the prestressed concrete bridge—which is largely closed due to numerous broken tension cables—as part of the test. Sensors recorded how the structure behaved under the load to determine its remaining load-bearing capacity. The cost of the test is 900,000 euros.
